Lite cigarettes are just as harmful

Smokers who use low tar or ‘lite’ cigarettes to minimize health damage are kidding themselves. Researchers studied 62 people in their twenties with no sign of heart disease.
Twenty participants had smoked low tar and low nicotine cigarettes for three years; twenty others had smoked regular cigarettes for the same time frame. The other volunteers were non smokers. The cardiovascular health of all participants was checked. The smokers were rechecked two days before and 30 minutes after smoking two cigarettes of their choice.
The results showed that the blood pressure and heart rate climbed after smoking irrespective of what type of cigarette was used. A test to check the dilation of arteries in response to extra blood flow revealed that smokers of both types were at equal risk of impaired blood flow.
The study confirmed doctors’ belief that low tar cigarettes are just as dangerous as regular cigarettes.

Exposure to auto exhaust on a regular basis can cause lowered immunity, breathing problems, and lowered cognitive ability. In an ideal world, a car''s emissions would include carbon dioxide and water. However, in reality a variety of harmful substances like carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and ozone are produced.
