Students told to avoid junk food

Srinath Joshi, assistance commissioner of police (south), has called upon the youth to avoid junk food to stay healthy. Speaking after inaugurating Annual Sports Meet 2010-11 at PC Jabin Science College here on Tuesday, he said doing exercise daily avoids diseases, makes one healthy and helps achieve higher goals in life. Students must consider extra-curricular activities as important as studies, he added.

College principal prof. V B Hiremath, who presided over the function, said: "If you are healthy, you can enjoy the world. Students must get inspiration from Commonwealth Games and participate actively in sports meets.

Dr G B Kalkoti, vice-president of Gymkhana, welcomed the dignitaries. S B Hiremath, principal of PU section, introduced the chief guest while prabhakaran T proposed the vote of thanks. S B Nadagouda compered the programme. College staff, students and participants were present.
