A new study has found that quitting smoking not only helps ease depression, but also increases their level of happiness quite a bit. The study was carried out by researchers from Brown University and focused on a group of roughly 250 men and women in total. The common denominator in this study was the fact that all of the men and women in the study were trying to quite smoking.
Researchers were trying to see what type of impact quitting smoking would have on these people not only physically from a health-standpoint, but also emotionally. The belief of common people is that smoking would actually list the spirits of people, as it is seen as that type of addictive thing. What they found is the opposite though.
Researchers discovered that when people quite smoking, it helps with their depression and also makes them far happier than when they were smoking. Out of the entire group, roughly 100 of them were never able to completely stop smoking, around 45 quite for a few weeks, and the rest were able to quite for good. The conclusion was that quitting helps with depression symptoms and increased their mood greatly.
