As temperatures rise due to global warming the incidence of disease could also go up. Insects are very vulnerable to climate change, due to this disease bearing insects are also likely to be affected by the changes. Malaria for example, is not common in mountainous areas because the temperature is too cold for mosquitoes. If the temperature rises the incidence of malaria in these regions could also go up. The Influenza virus thrives in the tropical areas year round but is not as common in colder parts. The rise in temperature could mean that more regions will experience outbreaks of influenza all through the year.
Global warming causes more weather events such as tornados and tsunamis. The result is that supplies of drinking water are put at risk of contamination. People are displaced from their homes and forced to live in circumstances where disease can spread.
The risks of global warming are all too real to ignore.
