Former fast food fan Alex Gerrard becomes face of Shake WeightIt has caused plenty of mirth on both sides of the Atlantic. But that hasn't stopped WAG Alex Gerrard promoting an exercise tool that has a rather suggestive motion.

The former self-confessed junk food addict has signed up to be the face of the Shake Weight in the UK.

The dumbell-shaped device is an arm strengthening and toning hand weight which you move back and forth.

The makers claim that using it six minutes a day will tone the arms thanks to a technology called 'dynamic inertia'. While it may sound like a contradiction, Shake Weight say dynamic inertia is a technology  that 'ignites the muscles in your arm, shoulders and chest'.

Alex, the wife of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, said: 'I use The Shake Weight every day and my arms have never looked so good. It really works.'  The 27-year-old used to eat three McDonalds a week and said she would munch through a loaf of bread a day because she was bored.

But this year, after seeing a picture of herself on holiday, she hired a personal trainer and cut down on the Big Macs and Quarter Pounders and is now looking toned and honed. The Shake Weight has already featured on the Ellen DeGeneres show and on This Morning and reduced the show hosts to tears of laughter. When it is held, the weight has a vibrating motion which looks sexually suggestive.

The adverts have become so popular in the U.S. that they have gone viral and spawned dozens of spoofs. While the Shake Weight is aimed at women's hard-to-shift bingo wings, there is also a bigger, longer version for men.
