It may have earlier been recommended that having plenty of fruits can help in curbing cancer, but recent studied have failed to prove it. It was a recommendation put forth by many prominent medical authorities, along with the World Health Organization.
That eating sufficient amount of fruits can help in lessening one's chances of being detected with cancer, based on some preliminary findings.
That claimed that these foods have potent anti-cancer compounds. But more insightful studies into the matter have not been able to evidently confirm the same.
On the contrary, it has been disclosed in a major study that cancer-fighting ability of fruits and vegetable may be meek at best. The conclusion came after researchers studied the diet related data of about 400,000 people in Europe for nine years.
It was then found that 30,000 of the observed participants were detected with cancer and people who had sufficient fruits were found to have shield against the disease but it was not strong enough. Results of this research were cited in the U. S.-based Journal of the National Cancer Institute and it was found that extra 200 grams of fruits and vegetables every day contributed to reduction of just 4% lesser risk of cancer.
