Researchers at Columbia University Medical Center say what people eat plays a role in whether they get Alzheimer's disease. According to a new study, eating foods like fish, fruit and nuts appear to be linked to a reduced risk of contracting the disease. The study was published in the online edition of the Archives of Neurology journal.
Researchers say they found a connection between Alzheimer's disease and a diet heavy in red meat and high-fat dairy. More than 2,100 adults over the age of 65 took part in the survey, providing information about their diets for an average of four years. During the course of the study, 253 of the subjects developed Alzheimer's.
